Clarence "Raymond" Land, Jr. age 67, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at his residence. The son of the late Clarence Raymond Land, Sr. and Elizabeth Tilson Land, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County. Raymond was a Vietnam veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a well known master carpenter and built several homes in McMinn, Monroe, Meigs, and Bradley Counties. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Land. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Melinda Cox Land of Etowah; sisters, Rose Ann Miller and husband Tommy of Englewood, Carolyn Headrick and husband Stanley of Englewood and Sherry Winsted and husband Harry of Meigs County. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday , October 4, 2015, from Conasauga Cemetery with Pastor Leon Devine officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services. The family will receive friends from 1-3p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
