Florence Mary McConkey

Florence Mary McConkey, age 76 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, September, 29, 2015, at her residence. Born on April 20, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Julius and Eleanor Bogdonivitz Iwasko, she had lived a majority of her life in McMinn County. She retired after 33 years of service from Thomas and Betts and attended Lakeview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bud" McConkey. She is survived by sons, Gary McConkey and wife Anna of Tellico Plains and Doug McConkey and wife Lisa of Athens; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive. A private family service will be held at a later date.
