Joyce Mae Hooper Shafer

June 6, 1952 — October 10, 2015

Joyce Mae Hooper Shafer, age 63, of Sweetwater, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at a local hospital. Born June 6, 1952, to the late Lorn Bruce Hooper and Ella Mae Rogers Eudakis, she was a native and lifelong resident Monroe County and was of the Church of GOD faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandkids. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Tony Eudakis ; son, Jeff Allen; sisters, Billie Jean Marshall and Bernice Watson; and brothers, Otis, Bud , Randall, and Luke Hooper. She is survived by her daughter, Verona Youngblood and husband Tony of Sweetwater, daughter-in-law, Tammy Allen of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Dustin Allen, Dakota Russell, Robert Massey, Mickey Youngblood, and Brianna Youngblood; brothers, Zack Hooper and wife Irene of Indiana, Don Hooper and wife Sue of Philadelphia, and Tony Hooper of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Betty Jo Delagarza of Chicago and Patricia Bivens and husband Don of Tellico Plains. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held from 5-7p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah.
