James T. Small of Philadelphia, TN passed away December 10, 2015 at Kindred Nursing Home in Loudon. He was 90 years old. He had served in two branches of the Military, having served in the Navy during WWII, where he received a Purple Heart. He also served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Additionally, he was retired from Bowater Paper Corporation.
He was preceded in death by both his mother and father; two sisters; his wife Betty Kiser Small; daughter Judy Gail Small; daughter and son-in-law Patsy & Al Cox; and granddaughter Shannon Cox.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Pam and Johnny Cox of Sweetwater; Son and daughter-in-law Rick and Pam Small of Sevierville; and daughter Lacey Vinsant. He has eight grandchildren, Beth Cox Shope, Kim Robinette, Tim Cox, John Cox, Nicole Eichler, Caleb, Faith and Josh Small. Thirteen great grandchildren. He also has many other extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Reed Springs Baptist Church in Philadelphia, TN on Tuesday December 15, 2015 at 7:30 p.m..
A visitation of family and friends will be held at the church from 6p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, prior to the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reed Springs Baptist Church.
