Cindy Slone Provost

October 13, 1957 — December 21, 2015

Cindy S. Slone Provost, age 58, of Athens, TN passed away on December 21, 2015 at her home after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Cindy was born on October 13, 1957, in Marshall, MI. She was a 1975 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and received her Associates Degree in Business at Davenport College.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Virgie Sparks-Flansburg; father Jimmie Ray Slone and brother, James Raymond Slone.

In 1991, Cindy was united in marriage to Gary Provost in Battle Creek, MI. She was employed by Wal-Mart in Battle Creek before moving to Athens, TN in 2005. She became employed in Tennessee at the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Sweetwater.

Cindy loved to bake, especially with her grandson. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. They were definitely her pride and joy. She loved the holidays filled with their family traditions, baking, decorating and wrapping up surprises. Cindy also loved every moment with her best friend and traveling companion Shirley Pittman. Another passion for her, was reading Danielle Steel novels and collecting each new release.

Her entire family remembers Cindy as always having a positive attitude and a helping hand. Even throughout her many hospitalizations, the staff would comment on what a great patient she was as being always cheery and never complaining.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Provost; two daughters Katrina Shumaker and son-in-law Jesse Clute and Heather Avila; stepsons Michel Provost and Shawn Provost. Also surviving are her grandson DeCoda Clute, and three granddaughters, Allison Brooks, Mykayla Thompson, Christina Avila and several step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lindy Watson, Gladys Shaffmaster, and one brother, David Morey and special sister-in-law Fran Slone.

A private memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
