Mary “Tinker” Deal Buckner, age 71, of Etowah, passed away January 5, 2016, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lorene Daniels Parsons and Joseph Deal.
She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was of the Baptist faith. She was a seamstress by occupation working in sewing manufacturing companies. She was an avid Tennessee fan, loved Peyton Manning and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Jody Long and Mike of Etowah, Bobbie Brown and Ray of Etowah, Dale Parsons and Corkey of Englewood; a companion Larry Blankenship of Old Fort; seven grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Cory Parsons, Cole Parsons, Ethan Parsons, Frankie Hoover, Courtney Hoover and Cloey Hoover; two sisters, Linda Carney of Etowah and Ann “Sissy” Parsons Stewart and Roger of Benton. Two brothers Buddy Parsons and Faye of Etowah and Wayne Parsons of Etowah. Special friend Marie Powell of Etowah and a faithful furry friend, Peyton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Bryan officating.
Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the New Bethel Cemetery with a white dove release. Pallbearers will be Brad Rickman, Lee McCormack, Jeremy Parsons, Toby Parsons, Donald “Tater” Crumley and John Vercher.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening prior to the service in the chapel.
