Kermit Edward "Bud" Claunch

Kermit Edward “Bud” Claunch, age 72 of Madisonville passed away January 9, 2016 at a local hospital. He was a native of Tuscumbia, Alabama , born on May 24, 1943 to the late Kermit L. Claunch and Willowdean Cooner Claunch. He had lived in Monroe County since 2008 and was of the Baptist faith. “Bud” was a United States Army Veteran and served 12 years in the Coast Guard Reserve. He spent 43 years working as a boilermaker and was a member of the Local 108 Boilersmakers Union and Local 1192 of the Millwrights Union.

He was a member of McMinn County Ham Radio Club, Elk’s Lodge in Athens, VFW in Sweetwater and the American Legion of Sweetwater.

He is survived by spouse of 6 years, Linda Mikus Claunch of Madisonville; two children Patrick Claunch and Kelly of Florence, Alabama, and Greg Claunch of Alabama. One brother, William C Claunch (Beverly) of Madison, Alabama, and other extended family and friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
