Felton “ Spence” Norwood, age 80, a native of Polk County and current resident of Etowah, went to meet his savior on Friday, January 22, 2016. He spent the majority of his life enjoying the outdoors, doing what he loved the most, whether it was hunting, fishing, or taking a drive up a long mountain road. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed enough to by touched by him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Allen and Ethel Irene Key Norwood; daughter, Patricia Anne Cox; sisters, Edith Tallent , Barbara Prince, Novilla Norwood; brothers, L.V. “ Gloshie” Norwood, Joe Norwood, and Glenn Norwood.
Spence is survived by his wife, Rose Smith Norwood of Etowah; grandchildren, Jeri Anne Coleman of Englewood and Jason Cox of Etowah; sisters, Pat Kirkland of Etowah and Lennie Kirkland of Etowah; and brother, Roger Norwood and wife Theresa of Benton. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2p.m Tuesday, January 26, 2016, from Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
