Lewis “Avery “Buckner, Jr., age 64, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, April, 16, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born on July 1, 1951, in Chattanooga, he had spent the past 30 years in Bradley County. Avery was a God fearing man who had a strong character and a kind heart and truly enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to hunt, travel, garden, and take his grandson to yard sales and flea markets. He thoroughly enjoyed taking Gavin on rides on the tractor while making a garden. There will be many cherished memories sustained by his family and friends for years to come of Avery and his kindness and love of life and family. He was retired from Whirlpool Corporation and was of the Church of God faith.
He was preceded in death by his father Lewis A. Buckner, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Traci Buckner of Cleveland; children, Alison Clay and husband Jacob of Hixson, Margaret Buckner of Cleveland, and Samuel Buckner of Cleveland; grandson, Gavin Blevins of Cleveland; mother, Patsy Ruth Buckner Ooltewah; sisters, Debbie Weeks and husband Ed of Etowah, Janie Jamerson of Etowah, Sherleen Tucker and husband Bill of Ooltewah and Terry Greene and husband Mike of Riceville; brothers, Ronnie Buckner and wife Rhonda of Cleveland, Tommy Buckner and wife Chrissy of Ooltewah, and Perry Buckner and wife Tonya of Ooltewah; mother-in-law, Connie Ashby of Chattanooga; and father-in-law Terry West and wife Charline West of Chattanooga. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Avery Buckner will be held at 7p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Jason Ollis officiating.
The family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the funeral home and proceed to Conasauga Cemetery for the 11a.m. committal service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.
