Rick Burleson, age 58, of Sweetwater, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. A native and lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Rick was known for his amazing sense of humor and his love for cooking. He had worked at the White Stone Country Inn as a chef and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed photography, going to the mountains, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas Burleson.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cheryl Franks Burleson ; children, Heather Standridge of Lucedale, Mississippi, Eric Burleson of Sweetwater, and Emily Burleson of Maryville; mother, Doris Jayne Burleson of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Julia Danielle Burleson, Alexis McKenzie Standridge, Kaylie Nicole Burleson, James Lucas Ivens, Jacob McKinley Standridge, and Caleb Patrick Burleson; sister, Susan Stephens of Sweetwater; and brothers, Robert and Scott Burleson of Sweetwater. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends also survive.
The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of White Stone Country Inn.
A celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at 7p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, from the chapel of the White Stone Country Inn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to help defray the costs of medical and final expenses.
