Mark Monroe Yoder, 78 of Athens, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the residence of his son in Athens. He was born on August 31, 1937 in Kalona, IA. He was a member of Wellspring Mennonite Church in Athens. Mark worked for many years as a respiratory therapist and a Lay Pastor. After his retirement, he worked for Choice Books.
He was the son of the late Henry and Sadie Yoder of Altamont, TN.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lucille Bollinger Yoder; two sons, Carl Yoder of Knoxville, and Dean Yoder of Athens; two daughters, Sharon Yoder of Seneca, SC and Charlene Conner of Boonton, NJ; five brothers, Daniel Yoder, Nelson Yoder, Paul Yoder, Curtis Yoder and John Yoder; five sisters, Orpha Mast, Ella Mae Landis, Anna Marie Yoder, Rhoda Chavarria and Martha Vargas; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, from the North Etowah Baptist Church with Pastor Verlon Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Wellsprings Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m.. July 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
