Laura Winder Buckner

Laura Winder Buckner, age 98, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and formerly of Athens, passed away November 28, 2016 at her residence. Born in Athens in 1918, to the late Henry Winder, Sr. and Ida Belle Cooke Winder, and was the widow of Bail R. Buckner.

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews, and her son-in-law, Larry N. White.

 Survivors include her daughter, Malvena Buckner White of Simpsonville, SC, grandson, Alan L. White (Erica) and great-grandson, Kayden White of Fountain Inn , SC; several nieces and nephews, and a great-niece whom she was very close, Hornia Dockins Chrisman.

 Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
