Charles Ray Taylor

Charles Taylor, age 46, of Athens, passed away on December 26, 2016. A native of South Carolina, he had spent a majority of his life in Monroe and McMinn Counties. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Atkins and brother, Robert Charles Taylor; and grandparents Jess and Bessie Garrett who were the owners and operators of Bessie's Gift Shop in Athens.

He survived by his wife, Sandra Taylor of Coker Creek; mother Vivian Lee Garrett Atkins and husband James of Madisonville; children, Robert, Delania , Sarah, and Trevor; sisters, Cheryl Cranfield of Madisonville, Tammy Underwood of Madisonville, Tonya Hart of Spring City, Amy Scholtz of Sweetwater, Amanda Winkler of Madisonville, Linda Ward of Vonore, and Shirley Atkins of Sevierville; and special friend Rhonda Gibson.  Six grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
