Nancy Jean Martin Wilson, age 78, of Athens, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, January 8, 2017, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Born on April 23, 1938 to the Late Carl and Vesta Hughes Martin, She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County. “Mrs. Nancy” was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church for over 40 years where she enjoyed playing the organ and piano for several years. She loved her church and her family and being a grandmother, mother, and wife brought her the greatest joy in life.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Jim Wilson of Athens; daughter, Jamie King and husband Eddie of Athens; grandson, Edward Taylor “T.K.” King and wife Charity of Huntington, West Virginia; brother, James “ Butch” Martin and wife Nancy of Athens; nieces Trescy and husband William “TicK” Lee and family of Benton, Heather Kiser and husband Josh of Lake City, TN and family and nephew, Seth Wilson of Maryland and family.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-4p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Double Springs Baptist Church. The interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Double Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Nancy’s memory.
