Dorothy Gene Holden Housley, age 83, of the Claxton community, passed away March 31, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Fannin County Georgia and had spent the last 46 years in McMinn County. Mrs. Housley was of the Baptist faith and was the very first female bus driver in McMinn County. She worked as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS and formerly Revco pharmacy. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Housley was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Maggie Holden; and one grandson, David Noble Eddington.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Elvin Housley of the Claxton Community; Son, Steven Housley (Tammy) of Sweetwater; daughter, Christal Eddington (Jeff) of Claxton; and grandchildren, Blake (Amy) Housley, Melissa Housley, Dianna (Michael) Cavanah, Mark Eddington, Lindsey Housley, Dakota Housley, and Lillie Housley.
A Graveside service will be conducted on Sunday April 2, 2017, at 2 p.m., at the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery located at 4971 Mobile Road in McCaysville, Georgia, with the Reverend Herman Jordan officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah.
