Joann Cole Johnson, age 77, peacefully passed away on April 2 in the company of her family. Joann was a lifelong resident of Etowah, TN, graduate of Etowah High School and Motlow College. She worked as a caretaker for many years. She was always happy with a smile on her face. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was loved by many family and friends alike, and will be greatly missed and forever in their hearts.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Cole and Essie Cardin Cole; daughter, Angela Weber Young; husband, Les Johnson; brothers, Willy Cole and Wayne Cole; and sister, Cynthia Cole Skipper.
Survivors include her son, Dirk Weber; granddaughter, Branigan Young Kross and her husband, Andy Kross of Athens; sisters, Imogene Cole Brown, and Pauline Cole Barncard; brothers, Leslie Cole and his wife Noreen of Etowah, and Steve Cole of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews of Etowah and Knoxville.
Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery in Tellico Plains.
