Sandra Grace Trotter Newman, age 61, of Etowah, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was of the Christian faith. Sandy volunteered a lot of her time with little league sports and loved arts and crafts, studying her bible, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Red” Trotter.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Eddie Newman of Englewood; daughter, Sallie Cate and husband Wendell of Riceville; son, Joey Newman and wife Kelly of Athens; mother, Violet Duncan and husband Dave of Etowah; grandchildren, Zack Cate, Abbie Cate, Zoey Newman, Molly Harrop, and Russell Newman; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Cate, Benjamin Mullen, and Anslee Cate; sisters, Charlyn Martin and husband Buster of Etowah, Audrey Butler and husband Larry of Alabama, Susan Marshall and Husband Bobby of Old Fort, and Paulette Wise and husband Jeff of Englewood. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive. She was particularly close with Mason and Amy Goins.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Sandy Newman will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Greg Hutsell officiating. Interment will follow in Mars Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 and again on Saturday from 12-1p.m.at the funeral home.
