Harry "Slow Poke" Winsted, Jr. age 58 of Niota , passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Born on August 17, 1957 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Harry Edward , Sr., and Dixie Winsted. He had spent the majority of his life in McMinn County and was a truck driver for over 35 years. Harry served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Church on the Rock.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alexis Winsted; sister, Patricia Hawkins; niece, Donna Coleman; mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Clarence Land; sister- in-law, Linda Land; and brother-in-law, Raymond Land.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sherry Land Winsted; son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Laura Winsted of Niota; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Tweety Smith of Etowah; grandchildren, Jade , Ashlyn, Kaitlyn and Dylan Winsted, Patrick , Chris II, Kaleb, Jacob, Steven Smith and Jasmine Carney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Vic Russell of Etowah, Sofronia and Shane King of Etowah; brothers and sisters-in-law; Ricky and Jenny Winsted of Etowah, Bobby Rayburn of Etowah and Kenneth and Martha Rayburn of Etowah. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family and lots of truck driving buddies also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Harry Winsted, Jr. will be held at 7p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Pastor Leon Devine officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the funeral home and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11a.m. committal service. Military honors and a white dove release will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
