Elvin Clay Housley, age 85, of Riceville, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017. He was born in Fannin County, Georgia and has spent the last 46 years in the Claxton Community, and attended the Double Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Housley is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on March 31, 2017; parents John Henry and Luvenia Goss Housley; one grandson, David Eddington; and ten siblings.
Mr. Housley is survived by two children, Steven Clay Housley and wife Tammy of Sweetwater; Christal and husband Jeff Eddington of Riceville; grandchildren, Dr. Blake and wife Amy Housley; Dr. Melissa Housley Reynolds and husband Dr. James Reynolds, Dianna Cavanah and husband Dr. Michael Cavanah, Mark Eddington, Lindsey Housley, Dakota Housley, and Lillie Housley; sister Ivanelle Johnson of Hopkinsville, KY. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in Fannin County Georgia at the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Herman Jordan officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. in the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel.
