Robert Ames “Bobby” Adams, age 84, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Eugene Ames and Alice Irene Boone Adams and was a lifelong resident of McMinn County, and retired after 43 ½ years from Bowater.
Bobby was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and served in the Korean Conflict & volunteered to serve on the front lines. He was a Golden Glove boxer in Knoxville and in the Marine Corp as well. He loved golfing, hunting, spending time with family and loved traveling. He and his wife have visited all 50 states, cruised on numerous Cruises, and visited other countries as well together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, named above and one sister Jean Branam.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty Vincent Adams of 59 ½ years; two children, Sharon (David) Lubin of Medford, NJ, and Mike (Shannon) Adams of Athens; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Adams Ward (Judah) of Etowah, Ali and Abigail Lubin of Medford, New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Iris Ward and Lucious Ward; one brother-in-law Elwyn (Linda) Vincent of Chattanooga; one sister-in-law Louise Vincent; a very special nephew, James Morgan; other special relatives and friends, Linda and Dennis Filyaw, Lyndia & Paul Raper and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.
The family would like say special thanks Dr. Brandon Watters, Dr. Thomas Layman, and Caris Hospice.
The Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Cardin officiating.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home .
Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Green Hill Cemetery.
