Wilburn Blane Kilby

Wilburn Blane Kilby, age 90, of Tellico Plains, TN passed away at Starr Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 26, 2018.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County.  He was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army.  He loved fishing and spending time with his family.

Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Eliza Ellis Kilby; his first wife, Hester Kilby; three sons, Blane, Steve, and Bruce  Kilby; two brothers, Knoxford and Bill; two sisters, Mamie Sue Gay, and Jimmie Hooper. 

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Freeman of Tellico Plains; three children, Pamela (Robert) Rookard of Etowah, Joan (Gary) Whitehead of Englewood, and Deidri (Jim) Shepherd of Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several other extended family members.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Vernon Webb officiating. 

Interment will be conducted on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 12 noon at the Rural Vale Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 5-7 p.m. on Monday in the chapel.
