William “Willie” Casteel, age 72 of Calhoun, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, with his family at his side. He is a native of Calhoun and a resident of McMinn County for most of his life. He was a member of Hiwassee Baptist Church and retired from FirstFleet Inc. in Cleveland, TN. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
Willie loved the mountains, camping and spending time with his family; was a member of the Hiwassee Tractor Club. He loved restoring old tractors and going to tractor shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Pearl Moore Casteel; six sisters, Margaret Holt, Edna Womac, Mae Casteel, Faye Fain, Frances Bennett, and Doris Casteel.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Clarissa “Chris” Manning Casteel of Calhoun; two daughters, Melissa (Bill) Riden of Cleveland, and Stephanie (Keith) Young of Cleveland; and one son Jason Casteel of Calhoun; seven grandchildren, Keshia (Jerry) Wilcox of Calhoun, Tyler Riden of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Hailie Young of Ooltewah, Dallas (Preston) Bates of Benton, Sarah Young, Trevor Young, Hunter Higgins, and Tyler Turner, all of Cleveland; four great grandchildren, Cooper, Emma, Paisley Wilcox of Calhoun, and Caraline Bates of Benton; one brother James (Charlotte) Casteel of Calhoun, and one sister Georgia Casteel of Athens; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Home Going will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Hiwassee Baptist Church with Brother Bill Sneed and Brother Stanley Liner officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons, Tyler Riden, Jerry Wilcox, Preston Bates, Trevor Young, Cooper Wilcox, and Randall Tatum serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
