Billy Wayne Smith, age 66, of Madisonville, went to be with His Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at his residence.
Bill’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Bill was born in Columbia, TN and spent a majority of his life in Michigan and returned to Madisonville in 1991. He is a member of the Hiwassee Church of God in Madisonville and was retired from General Motors after 22 years of service. Bill was a volunteer with the Monroe County Rescue Squad & Fire Department and a Monroe County Auxiliary Police Officer. Bill loved playing the piano and his favorite song to play on the piano was “Amazing Grace.”; he enjoyed going to gospel singings; and he loved spending time with his family and friends. In years past, Bill had a Duplicating Company called Hallelujah Taping, Inc.
He is preceded in death by his father, John William Smith and his mother, Frances Wright Smith Hockstadt , step-father John Hockstadt, and one twin sister, Martha Jean Smith.
Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara Worley Smith; three children, Timothy Wayne (Ann) Smith of Ypsilanti, MI, Rebecca (Patrick) Guldner of Madisonville, and Nathan Smith of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Ashley, Kaleen, Patrick, Ethan, and Tyler; two sisters, Mary Jane Smith of Michigan and Sandra Polidori of Michigan; and ONE AUNT, Dorothy “Dot” Cook of Murfreesboro, TN.
The Cremation has already taken place.
A Memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Hiwassee Church of God in Madisonville with Rev. Jim Hale and Sister Ann Hagan officiating.
A fellowship meal will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
