Bertha Imogine Bain

Bertha Imogine “Jean” Ledford Bain, age 85, of Englewood, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at an Athens hospital. She was born in Athens on September 8, 1932 to the late O. C. and Estella Coleman Ledford. Jean was a founding member of the North Englewood Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, R. C. “Bob” Bain; son, Ricky Bain; and great-grandson, Jalyn Hood.

Jean is survived by her children, Pat (Mike) Gentry, Donnie (Elaine) Bain, Ronnie (Kathy) Bain, Jimmy (Renee) Bain; grandchildren, Tammy Bain, Karl Bain, Caycie Layne, Kara Robinson, Jerreth Bain, Matthew Bain, Chelsey Ozburn; great-grandchildren, John Ross, Julia, Karleigh, Chase, Josh, Krystin, Chandler, Haven, Taylor, Abby, Landrie; and her siblings Lois Clayton, Shirley Perry, and Jerry Ledford.

A graveside service for Jean Bain will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood with her grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. The Rev. Benny Goodman will be officiating.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Serenity of Etowah Funeral Home prior to the service.
