Lucille Sequal Black, 63, of Laurinburg, N.C., passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the Morrison Manner Hospice Home in Laurinburg after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Scotland County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary Elizabeth McNeil Black.
Her career was in education, where she spent the last 31 years helping to administrate, educate and love the students, teachers and fellow workers in the Marlboro County School System. She was formerly a member of the Pembroke State University. She last served as principal of Wallace Elementary School in Wallace, N.C.
She was a faithful member of South Laurinburg Church of God and a great lover of music and also a trained pianist.
Survivors include a brother, Dr. Daniel L. Black lll and his wife, Dorothy Jane, of Cleveland; foster son, Mark Corzine and wife, Teresa, of Orange Park, Fla.: stepsister, Becky Howard Altman of Georgetown, S.C.; a niece and nephew; two lifelong friends and special sisters, Clovis Cole of Laurinburg and Jewell Camp of Aiken, S.C
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 8, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Daniel Black officiating.
Grissom Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
