James J.R. Burditt, age 80, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, in a local hospital. He was attended the Cornerstone Church in Cleveland. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force. He was also retired from Shaw Industries. He was a member of the Dalton Masonic Lodge, V.F.W. Post and served in the Merchant Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warrner Burditte and Francis Lawson; three brothers, Tom Burditt, Luke Burdette and Elijah Burditt; two sisters, Mattie Lou Wright and Ruby Pool; one step-son, Frank Fowler and one granddaughter, Cindy Denise Harrison Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Glena Ruth Burditt, Cleveland, TN; one daughter and husband, Frances and Harold Harrison, Knoxville, TN; one daughter in law Janice Fowler; one brother, Harvey (Clarice) Burdette, Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Todd (Dedie) Harrison, Knoxville, TN, Tim Harrison, Knoxville, TN, Danny, Mike, Barry and Jamie Fowler; four great grandchildren, Courtney Anderson, Victoria Harrison, Brandon Harrison and Clark Anderson; nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; a very special nephew and his wife, Randy and Gail Burdette and several other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Conley officiating. Interment will be held privately.
