Mary Louise Callaway, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Callaway was born in Melrose, Mass. on November 24, 1921 (Thanksgiving Day) to William Clarence and Jessie Grant Steele. She graduated from Gardner High School and attended Wheelock College in Mass. before moving to Cleveland, TN. She married local businessman Robert Edward Callaway. She was an active member in many social and civic organizations throughout her lifetime and was a retired employee of Federated Department Store. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan Corn and husband Charles Corn of Cleveland, Mary Lou Miller and husband Douglas Miller of Charleston, TN, and Polly Sullivan of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Rob McGowan and Aon Miller of Chattanooga, TN, Elizabeth McCoin and Jessica Jollie of Lookout Mt., TN, Kelly Hughes, Nicole Woodfin and Callie Meagher of Cleveland; and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Joel Huffstetler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Lukes Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 5, Cleveland, TN 37364-0005.
