Ralph L. Carroll

d. October 17, 2009

Ralph Leonard Carroll passed away on Saturday October 16 where he wanted to be, at his home in the woods where the deer grazed in the front yard, the 'possums roamed around back, and a fire he had built himself in the big stone fireplace. He was born in Bradley County on November 12, 1924 where he loved to live near family, friends, his business, the lake, and his church.

He was preceeded in death by his parents James Luther and Lettie Carroll, his in-laws James and Susie Muncy, his three brothers Paul, Jack, Luther; and his sister Billie Jones Alford.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Muncy Carroll, his son and daughter-in-law Jackie and Marlene Carroll, his grandchildren Kristy and Chad Buckner, and his great granddaughter Jenna Cate Buckner; his grandchildren Lindsey and Brad Self, his daughter Nancy Carroll and her boyfriend Gary Conner, his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Melinda Carroll and his grandchildren Megan and Zachary Carroll; his brother and sister-in-law Max and Patsy Carroll, many nieces and nephews in the Carroll family, his wife's brother and sister-in-law Gene and Dorothy Muncy and over 500 'close' relatives from the Muncy family.

Ralph served in the Navy (Sea Bees) with his brother Luther and one of his best friends, the late Jack Cunningham, from 1944-1946. He received the distinguished honor award and several service medals including the Purple Heart. He graduated from printing school in Nashville and founded Carroll Printing Company with the support of his beloved father in 1952. He continued to work in the family business up until the day before he passed. He was a life long member of the North Cleveland Church of God where he loved the music ministry and was a member of the Unity Sunday School class.

He loved his family and called every meal with the family and visiting friends a "party". He never met a stranger and made lifelong friends through the community, his business, and his church. He was famous for his quick wit and loved to make you laugh. A Celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on Wednesday October 21st at the North Cleveland Church of God with the Reverends Jack Smith and Mark Muncy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 20th from 5 to 8 at the church and one hour before the service.

Memorials may be made to the North Cleveland Church of God Community Ministry.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
