Tyler Hugh Carver, age 16, resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a rising junior at Cleveland High School where he played for the CHS basketball team, was a State contender in track, football (9th grade), played in concert band, school plays, orchestra, and was a Raider Scholar. He was gifted academically, musically, and athletically. He planned to pursue a career in Orthopedics with an emphasis in Sports Medicine. He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God where he was active in the church orchestra. He traveled on several mission trips with Men and Women of Action. He was an achiever and loved by many friends. He was a wonderful son, brother and grandson. Tyler lived all 16 years in Cleveland. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his parents, Hugh and Nona Carver, his brother, Heath, of Nashville, his sister, Heather, his grandparents, Jack and Lucille Smith, of Cleveland, his aunts, Gwen Smith, of Stevens Point, WI, Beth Smith, of Cleveland, TN, and his uncle, Jack Smith, of Conyers, GA. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Nettie Drucilla Metcalf of Westminster, SC.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at North Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Mitch Maloney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bud Kinches, Joel Swartzel, Cole Henderson, Blake Ray, Eric Von Potts, Walt Westfield, Chase Jenkins, Jacob Abbott, Caleb Bell and Josh Wheeler serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tyler Carver Memorial Scholarship c/o Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation 3304 North Ocoee Street Cleveland, TN 37312
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 11, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God.
