Dorothy Olivia Bradley Cate, 83, a resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at the family residence.

Mrs. Cate, who was lovingly referred to as DeeDee by her family, was a devoted wife, a caring mother, a loving and faithful friend, and a joy to all who knew her.

Mrs. Cate was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chattanooga and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a teacher at North Chattanooga Junior High School in the 1940s. She is a long time communicant of St. Lukes Episcopal Church and was a member of Cleveland-Athens Cotillion, Cherokee Garden Club, and the Symphony Guild. She also enjoyed weekly meetings with two local Bridge groups.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clark Cate; one son, John Bradley Cate; and her parents John Hoyt and Marian Bradley.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Clark and Sharon D. Cate; one daughter and son-in-law Beth Cate and Eric L. Evans, all of Cleveland; one brother Edwin Bradley, Sr.; five grandchildren: Catherine Evans Wattenbarger and husband, Marc, Emily Evans, Amy Cate Tippens and husband, Kyle, Rachael Cate, and John Patrick Cate; one great-grandson Caden Tippens; one unborn great-grandson Baylor Tippens; one sister-in-law Harrie Cate; one brother-in-law and wife William Boyd (Buddy) and Joy Cate; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Requiem will be held at 2pm at St. Lukes Episcopal Church with the Rev. Joel Huffstetler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Lukes Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11am until 2pm on Thursday, March 4 in St. Lukes Parish Hall.
