Virdon J. Crisp, age 86, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Friday morning, August 24, 2007, in a local hospital. Mr. Crisp was formerly employed with the T.N.T. Plant in Chattanooga as a mechanic. He attended the Henegars Baptist Church. For many years he was also an automobile repairman and he loved to farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Crisp and Zelia Aldridge Crisp and 11 brothers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Earnestine Bledsoe Crisp, Cleveland, two sons and daughters in law, Delmer and Wanda Jane Crisp, Calhoun, TN and Charlie and Peggy Yvonne Crisp, Cleveland, TN, one daughter and son in law, Verdia Jo and Omer Champion, Thornton, KY; two brothers, Staton Crisp and Cecil Burl Crisp, both of Cleveland, TN; seven grandchildren, Melody Webb, Melissa (Missy) Baker, Omer Champion II, Wendy Denise Schifflin, Brian Neal Crisp, Tammy Powell and Sharon Morrow; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Virdon Crisp will be held Monday, August 27, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. James Hicks and Rev. Brian Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Champ Champion, Josh Byrd, Phil Schifflin II, Aaron Dotson, Chris Webb, Jason Hatcher, Rondall Baker, Harley Evans and Clarence Hatcher serving as pallbearers.
A Trinity Dove Release will conclude the services at the graveside.
