Mitchell A. Cronan, Sr.

Mitchell Andrew Cronan, Sr., age 77, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Tuesday morning, September 30, 2008, in a local hospital. He was a member of Tasso Baptist Church. He was retired from Bowater after 38 years of service. He was a member of Ocoee Lodge Free and Accepted Masons and the Scottish Rite. He served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work in his yard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lafayette Andrew Cronan and Della Matilda Smith; four brothers, Rex, Nash, Sam and Bill Cronan and one sister, Oleta Blackwell.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Freda Cronan, Cleveland, TN; one son and daughter in law, Mickey and Beth Cronan, Benton, TN; one daughter and son in law, Joyce and Charles Byrd Moorhouse, Ocoee, TN; one step son, Jerry R. North, Jr. and wife, Shirley, Loudon, TN and three step daughters and spouses, Joy and William Phillips, Forsyth, GA, Donna and Elezar Cruz, Loudon, TN and Pam and Herb Harper, Franklin, TN; one sister and brother in law, Johnnie Bob and Tommy Guthrie, Benton, TN; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Cawood officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. A Trinity Dove Release ceremony will conclude the services at the graveside.

A Masonic memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
