Nelda Lee Davis, 74, a resident of Cleveland, gained entrance to Heaven Monday, August 27, 2007, in a local hospital.
She was born August 14, 1933 in Knobbs, Kentucky. She was employed by the Electric Power Board in Chattanooga forty-eight years. Active in the Chattanooga Chapter of Business and Professional Women, she held many positions in various levels of leadership. She was honored as Credit Professional of the Year in May, 1998. She was a member of various civic organizations and worked tirelessly many years for the United Way Campaign.
Miss Davis had been a member of Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy fifty-three years where she was active as devotional leader for the adult womens Sunday School class, church hostess, and member of the adult Sanctuary Choir. For many years, she was a member of the Voice of Salvation Radio Choir.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Emitt Davis and Alta Lane Davis. She was also preceded in death by four infant brothers and one infant sister.
Survivors include one brother: Rev. Allen Davis, Sr. and wife, Mildred; niece, Londa Richardson and husband, Dwight of Cleveland; nephew: Allen Davis, Jr. and wife, Leecy of Chattanooga; two great-nephews: Jeremi Richardson and wife, Amy of Orlando, Florida; and Tyler Richardson of Cleveland; one great-great-niece: Laken Ariah Richardson of Orlando.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 29th from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, August 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Coalter and Rev. Mrs. Londa Richardson. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be William Lamb, Perry Horner, Michael Plumlee, Wayne Pohlner, Ken Nope, and R. Wayne Allen.
