Ruby E. Davis

Ruby Ernestine Hanks Davis, age 86, a resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord she worshipped and adored, Tuesday, April 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter H. Davis, Sr.

She was a longtime faithful member of the Westmore Church of God where she had many friends who called her Ma-Ma Rubes . This world was graced for 86 years with the presence of an angel. Though we will miss her here on earth, she is singing now for the Lord Jesus Christ in the Heavenly Choir.

She was the daughter of the late Flem Cecil Hanks and Lillian Marie Poston from McComas, WV.

Survivors include her devoted and loving three children; daughter and son in law, Betti and Donald Wilson, Sweetwater, TN; daughter, Brenda Kay Avery, Cleveland, TN; son and daughter in law, Bud (Walter H., Jr.) and Linda Davis, Cleveland, TN; six grandchildren and spouses; Kevin Avery, Todd Lee, Cori and Patrick Lawson, Buddi, (Walter H., III), and Missy Davis, Amanda and Brett McConnell, Lynette and Tommy McCulley; eight great grandchildren, Devin and Lillian McCulley, Tyler Lee, Linsy and Jace Lawson, Tara Davis, Oneal and Ivan McConnell; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Wendell Smith and Pastor Kelvin Page officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Hill Cemetery with Kevin Avery, Todd Lee, Buddi Davis, Patrick Lawson, Tommy McCulley and Brett McConnell serving as pallbearers.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Westmore Church of God Building Fund, 2412 Wolfe Drive NW Cleveland, TN 37312.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
