Paul Sullivan Doss, age 70, resident of Riceville, TN, passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2007, in a local hospital with his loving family by his side. He was a well known car dealer for many years with Paul Doss Motors. He was a lifelong member of Hiwassee Baptist Church in McMinn County. Paul loved working on old cars and helping to restore them. He was an avid race car fan and spent much of his time working with his boys on their race cars. At one point, Paul received his NASCAR license. He loved to travel. Paul Doss was a devoted father, grandfather and family man and he was loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lloyd Doss and Rosa Lea Hamby Doss, one daughter, Baby Lisa Renee Doss and one brother in law, Eddie Shell.
He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, P. D. and Teresa Doss, Cleveland, Bobby and Kathy Doss, Cleveland, Michael and Detra Foster, Chatsworth, GA and Jerry Hicks, Cleveland; daughters and sons in law, Dinah and John Pickering, Cleveland and Kathy and Gary Stafford, Cohutta, GA, one sister, Judy Shell, Cocoa Beach, FL; 14 grandchildren and spouses, Karen Pickering Swafford, Amy Pickering and fianc Matthew Hayes, Carrie Cross, Julie Akins, Venecia and Dayne OBannon, Amanda and Casey Shelby, Brandy and Jason Koob, Mindy Doss-Hale and Scott, Josh Doss and Lindsay, David Doss and Amber, Brittley Doss-Holliday and Malcolm, Chelsea Foster, Spud Foster and John Foster. 14 great grandchildren, Miranda Swafford, Kobe Hale, Allie Hale, Preston Hale, Bailey Doss, Trenton Doss, Skylar Doss, Teakoah Doss, Rylee Doss, Keriden Basham-Doss, Brayley Holliday, Jacob Anderson, Amy OBannon, Grace OBannon. Nieces and Nephews, Shirley Grady and Barry Grady and great nieces and nephews, Chris Carty, Cody Grady, Meghan Grady and Brittany Grady. A host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hiwassee Baptist Church in McMinn County with Rev. Bill Sneed and Rev. Stanley Liner officiating. Interment will follow in the Hiwassee Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons and friends serving as pallbearers. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will gather at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Grissom Funeral Home to go in procession to the church.
