William Bill Driggers, age 80, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 28, 2009. He passed away at his home. He was a longtime member since 1972 of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder Emeritus. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bill retired from Olin Chemical in Charleston in 1992. He was a graduate of Lee College-University where he majored in music. He was a veteran. He loved music, enjoyed the time he spent on his house boat and he loved to work in his yard. He was preceded in death by his son, Mike Driggers and his parents, Rev. William Minor Driggers and Nina Driggers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Driggers, sister, Esther Lee, son and daughter in law, Raymond and Paula Driggers, daughter and son in law, Carmen and David Hester and four grandchildren, Zachary Driggers, Victoria Hester, Tyler Hogan and Ryan Ellis. Several nieces and nephews. Special family friends of 47 years, Jim and Frances Swafford, Brian and Patty Swafford and Godchildren Cody and Courtney Swafford.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Cliff Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jim and Brian Swafford, Zachary Driggers, Tyler Hogan, Raymond Driggers and David Hester serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Ellis, Cody and Courtney Swafford, Gary McAmis, Jim Lockhart and members of the St. Andrews Sunday School Class. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church 161 2nd Street N.E. Suite 3 Cleveland, TN 37311.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 30, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
