Katherine Rose Ellis

Katherine Rose Ellis, 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Katherine was the first female rural mail carrier in Cleveland/Bradley County. She loved to travel and travelled to 47 of the 48 continental United States. She was preceded in death by parents, Archie Burton Eaton and Lena Katherine Hunt Eaton; five brothers, Charles Eaton, Cecil Eaton, Lonnie Eaton, Larry Eaton, and Wayne Eaton; and two sisters, Mary Belle Harrold and Ollie Viola Perian.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Lee Ellis of Cleveland; daughter, Judy Nix Johnson of Cleveland and her fianc Dewayne Patty; brothers, John R. Eaton, Henry Eaton, and Jimmy Eaton; and two grandchildren, Dustin Nix and Alexis Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Farris and Rev. Harold Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with John Young, Lewis Harrold, Jr., Chris Fowler, Dewayne Patty, Charles Patty, and Eric Patty serving as pallbearers.
