Paul Raymond Evans, age 80, resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, in a local hospital. He was an active member of Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during WWII. He was retired from Owens Illinois Glass Co. He was a member of Cherokee Springs Golf Club. He was an avid coin collector. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nellie Brewster Evans, sister, Ruby Shaw, brothers, J. R. Evans and Junior Evans.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Herby Joyce Evans, Cleveland, TN; two sons and daughters in law, Michael Raymond and Kay Evans and Samuel Ross and Toni Evans all of Douglasville, GA; three daughters and sons in law, Rita Rae and Tim Barnard, Marietta, GA, Jennifer Diane and Ken Campbell, Eatonton, GA and Kimberly Shea and Chris Kaiser, Douglasville, GA; two brothers, Marion Evans and wife, Carolyn, Douglasville, GA and David Evans, Villa Rica, GA; four sisters, Louise and husband, Roy Hembree, Winston, GA, Rebecca and husband, Watson Cohran, Douglasville, GA, Vernell and husband Dave Pliske, Winston, GA and Brenda and husband, Pete Ward, Winston, GA; 9 grandchildren, Jason McCrary, Katie Williams, Jeremy Evans, Sean Evans, Cody Campbell, Jessica Evans, Justin Evans, Brock Evans and Hannah Kaiser. 8 great grandchildren; special friend and mother of the children, Peggy Evans, Douglasville, GA and step mother, Genelle Evans, Rossville, GA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 4, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Tim Coalter, Rev. Ben Lawrence, Rev. Tim McCaleb and Jason McCrary officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Grandsons and grandaughter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Pauls Golfing Buddies. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy Building Fund.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 3, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
