Roger L. Fairley, 63, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam. He retired from Maytag after 32 years of employment. After retirement he worked at Rolling Hills Golf Course where he loved to play golf. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Mens Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Fairley.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ellen Fairley of Cleveland; two sons and daughters in law, Todd and Jay Fairley of Houston, TX and Troy and Dena Fairley of Smyrna, GA; mother, Mildred Fairley of Chatsworth, IL; two brothers and sisters in law, Jerry and Laurel Fairley of Chatsworth, IL and John and Sally Fairley of Peoria, IL; one sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Ken Eastin of Roberts, IL; one brother in law and his wife, John and Debbie Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Andrew Henry and Rev. Timothy Paul officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 3425 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312, Adventa Hospice, 5959 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421, or to the American Cancer Society, 850 Fort Wood Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home, which has charge of the arrangements.
