Albert J. Flowers

Albert J. Flowers, age 91, resident of Athens, TN, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in a Athens healthcare facility. He was a brick mason. Formerly of Bradley County, he was a U. S. Navy veteran and served in World War II. He was a member of the Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude Edith McCann Flowers of 57 precious years together, 2 half brothers, Roy Lee Flowers and Junior Flowers and one brother, Johnny Flowers, 3 half sisters all preceded in death.

He is survived by his wife, Exie Flowers, one son, James Flowers, Cleveland, one daughter and son in law, Karen E. Marcum and Willard, of Charleston; two grandchildren, Richmond Flowers and Toccara Jo Kennett and three great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. James Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association.
