Mary Elizabeth Ford Gibson, age 88, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 14, 2008. She died at her home surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth Gibson was born on November 7, 1919 in Birmingham, AL. She graduated as valedictorian of her graduating class in 1938. She completed Bible Training School, (now Lee University), in Sevierville, TN in 1941. While at BTS she met Esel J. Gibson fron Strawn, Texas and they were married in May of 1941. Elizabeth Gibson was a dedicated and faithful wife. She supported her husband in his evangelistic and pastoral ministry of 43 years. Their pastorates included churches in Texas, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan and South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, Rev. Esel J. Gibson, her parents, Paul and Mary Ford.
She is survived by three children. Daughter, Paula Noble, wife of Rev. Jerry Noble, and mother of grandchildren, Melissa (Wes) Snyder, Jeremy (Tracy) Noble and Alesha Noble. Son, Clement Gibson, husband of Rachel Gibson, the father of grandson, Chad Gibson. Daughter, Pamela Pickelsimer, wife of Quinton Pickelsimer, mother of grandchildren, Connie (David) Williams, Shannon (Doug) Boring, Jonathan Pickelsimer and Amanda Pickelsimer. Sister, Evelyn Carmichael, Bartow, Florida. Great grandchildren, Seth Snyder, Christian Noble, Victoria Noble, Nathaniel Williams, Bethany Williams, Michael Holder, Dakota Hughes, McKinley Gibson and Ainsley Gibson.
A celebration of the life of Elizabeth Gibson will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastors Gary Sears and Chris Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Wes Snyder, Jeremy Noble, Quinton Pickelsimer, Chad Gibson, Douglas Boring and Seth Snyder serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16, 2008, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
