H Lester Haney

September 11, 1915 — July 15, 2008

HUBERT LESTER HANEY, 92, A WELL KNOWN DAIRY FARMER IN THE TASSO COMMUNITY WENT HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD ON TUESDAY, JULY 15, 2008. HE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 11, 1915 IN MCMINN COUNTY, TN. HE WAS THE 5TH BORN OF 13 CHILDREN TO JOHN F.& CALLIE HANEY. HE MOVED TO THE TASSO COMMUNITY WITH HIS FAMILY IN 1923. HE WAS A MEMBER OF NEW FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH IN CHATATA VALLEY SINCE 1948. HIS FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE WAS JOHN 3:16. HE PROUDLY SERVED IN THE NATIONAL GUARD. HE IS A FORMER MEMBER OF THE NORTH LEE RURITAN CLUB AND SUPPORTER OF THE BRADLEY COUNTY 4-H DAIRY SHOW. HE ATTENDED THE TASSO SCHOOL & BRADLEY HIGH SCHOOL. HE WORKED AT HARDWICK FARMS AND HARDWICK FOUNDRY. IN 1959 HE PURCHASED THE FAMILY DAIRY FARM FROM HIS FATHER . OVER THE YEARS OF OPERATING A DAIRY, HE ALSO RAISED COTTON, TOBACCO, & VEGETABLES. HE RETIRED IN 1997 TO CARE FOR HIS LOVING WIFE, SELVA. HE AND HIS WIFE ENJOYED SELLING PRODUCE AND CANNED GOODS AT THE BRADLEY COUNTY FARMERS MARKET. HE WAS INDUCTED INTO THE BRADLEY COUNTY AGRICULTURE HALL OF FAME IN 2002. HIS DEDICATION AND LOVE TO HIS CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE OF 66 YEARS, SELVA WHALEY HANEY. PARENTS: JOHN F. & CALLIE HANEY. SISTERS: ETHEL COLEMAN, & WILLIE MOONEYHAM. BROTHERS: CLARENCE, FRED, PAUL, ROY, GAIL, FRANK, & WAYNE HANEY. SURVIVED BY: CHILDREN & SPOUSES: GENE (LINDA) HANEY, JUNIOR (DIANE) HANEY, JUANITA (GARY) HOUSTON, & MARY JANE (JAMES) PIERCE ALL OF CLEVELAND, TN. GRANDCHILDREN & SPOUSES: GENA (FRANK) FAULK, OF MEIGS CO., JUNIOR II (APRIL) HANEY OF MCDONALD, TN. DIANNIA (DENNIS J.) MELTON, KIMBERLY (DAVE) HARDIN, SHAUNA (SHAUN) CAVETT, TODD HOUSTON, SCOTT HOUSTON ,SHANE FALLS & L.J. FALLS, ALL OF CLEVELAND, TN. GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: BO (NICOLE) FAULK, NATHAN HOUSTON, AMANDA HOUSTON, LOGAN MELTON, COOPER MELTON, TAYLOR CAVETT, DREW CAVETT, JORDAN CAVETT, HUBERT JUSTIN HARDIN, AND A BABY HARDIN ON THE WAY. GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD: ELLIE SAVANNAH HOUSTON SISTER & BROTHERS: LORA KIBBLE, OF CLEVELAND,TN, RAY HANEY, OF CLEVELAND, TN., AND FELIX HANEY OF REX, GA. ALSO, SEVERAL NIECES & NEPHEWS. THE FUNERAL WILL BE HELD THURSDAY, JULY 17, 2008 AT 11:00 AM AT GRISSOM FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REVS. LARRY BRYANT AND MIKE CUTSHAW OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN SUNSET MEMORIAL GARDENS WITH TODD HOUSTON, SCOTT HOUSTON, JUNIOR HANEY II, SHANE FALLS, L.J. FALLS, FRANK FAULK, DENNIS J. MELTON, DAVE HARDIN, SHAUN CAVETT SERVING AS PALLBEARERS. HONORARY PALLBEARERS WILL BE TED CHASE, GENE COX, JACK SANDERS, JACK MOORE, LEON LEWIS, HERB BEENE, ROBERT JULIAN, REED GOINS, & SAMMY LAUDERDALE. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THE FAMILY REQUEST DONATIONS BE MADE TO NEW FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH IN MEMORY OF HUBERT LESTER HANEY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 2008 FROM 5:00 PM TO 9:00 PM AT THE FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
