Betty Jean Harper, 89, of Cleveland, passed away on September 26, 2009. Born May 29, 1920 in Astoria, Queens, to the late George R. and Elizabeth Rohleder Campbell, Mrs. Harper was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her sister, Caroline Halvorsen of Clinton Corners, NY, and her son-law, Lawrence Timbo, of Hilliard, Fla.
On April 12, 1943 she married Humphrey Glenn Harper, a current resident at Life Care of Cleveland. Before moving to Cleveland in 2003, Mr. and Mrs. Harper lived in Hyde Park, NY.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her daughters, Norah Wendy Timbo, Hilliard, Fla., and Mary Jane (and William) VanBenschoten, Cleveland; five grandchildren, Maria (and Joe) Murphy, Fernandina Beach, Fla., Daniel (and Tracey) Timbo, Port St. Lucie, Fla., William (and Megan) VanBenschoten, Richmond, Va., Rebecca (and Tom) Marino, Cleveland, and David (and Anna) VanBenschoten, Richmond, Va.; twelve great grandchildren, with a new great grandbaby expected in January, 2010; and several nieces and nephews.
An attendee of Mountain View Church of God, Cleveland, Mrs. Harper accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age.
A memorial service will be held at Grissom Funeral Home chapel at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 28, with Pastor Fred Mercer officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 25.
Internment will be at the convenience of the family at the Crum Elbow Rural Cemetery in Hyde Park, N.Y.
