Carol Ann Howell, 61, a resident of Cleveland passed away Wednesday morning, February 27, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. For 26 years she was an active member of the Keith Street Church of God of Prophecy where she taught the Pre-K Bible class. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband moved to Cleveland in 1971 and prior to her illness, she served as manager of White Wing Christian Bookstores in Cleveland and Hixson over a combined total of 19 years. Carol was a state licensed building contractor, an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. However, her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic supporter of mission endeavors in Cambodia and helped organize several Vacation Bible Schools there in January, 2007 which ministered to several hundred children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Hamilton and Ruth Malone Hamilton and her son Randal Darrin Howell. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Dan Howell of Cleveland; two sons, Richard D. (Rick) Howell and wife Karen of Paola, Kansas and Rod Howell of Cleveland; two granddaughters, Chloe and Abby Howell of Cleveland; one grandson, Grant D. Howell of Paola, Kansas; A brother, Charles E. Hamilton and wife Vicki of Lake Quivira, Kansas; two nephews, Derek Hamilton and wife Melanie of Olathe, Kansas and Jason Hamilton of Overland Park, Kansas; One great niece, Maddy Hamilton and one great nephew, Evan Hamilton, both of Olathe, Kansas. The Funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday March 1, 2008 at the Keith Street Church of God of Prophecy, 4000 Keith Street in Cleveland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jerry Adams, Josh Dasher, Jason Dasher, Mikel Harris, Rick Howell and Rod Howell will serve as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Grissom Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Cambodia and Peru missions programs at the Keith Street Church of God of Prophecy. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
