Clarone Clark Hughes, age 78, resident of Cleveland, went home to be with her Lord Monday evening, March 26, 2007. She passed away in a local hospital with her loving family by her side. She was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God and the Unity Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hughes attended Bob Jones University, Lee College, and received a Bachelors of Science from University of Chattanooga, and a Masters of Science from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tn. Mrs. Hughes was active professionally, and retired from Hamilton County Schools where she taught Accounting, Business Law, and Bookkeeping. She served for over 20 years as the Sponsor for Future Business Leaders of America, and was a member of the Association of Business and Professional Women. Mrs. Hughes was also a long time member of the Tennessee Education Association as well as the Alpha Xi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Society. Locally, Mrs. Hughes served as a partner with Claremont Homes of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Vore Clark and father, E. C. Clark and one sister, Princess Clark Bryant.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Russell C. Hughes, Cleveland; one daughter and son in law, Susan Hughes Patton and Jerry, Chattanooga, TN; two sons and daughter in law, David C. Hughes, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Tom Hughes and Therese of Chattanooga, TN; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Sims, Courtney Cofield, Paul T. Hughes, Robert L. Hughes, Lauren E. Hobbs and Jonathan D. Hobbs. 3 great grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Cofield, and Gloria Delaney Anne Sims and McCarter Sims.
A Celebration of the Life and Home Going of Clarone C. Hughes will be held Thursday, March 29, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Dr. F. J. May and Rev. Mitch Maloney officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
