Eleanor F. Humphries

Eleanor Frances Shipley Humphries, age 77, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008, in a local hospital. Born on February 17, 1930 at Downingtown, PA to parents, Clarence Frederick, Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Shipley. She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Billy Thomas Humphries. After high school in PA., Eleanor attended nursing school in South Carolina where she met the love of her life, Billy Humphries. She was an employee of Bradley Memorial Hospital and loved her career of helping in the delivery and care of Bradley County's newborns and their mothers for 26 years. She was a lifelong and active member of Waterville Baptist Church and worked in many outreach ministries in the community. The title she most cherished was that of wife and mother. She raised her children in the Christian faith and was always there with love and support and encouragement in all their endeavors. Her wonderful cooking and biscuits were legendary and she loved to share of her time, talents and food as she was able throughout her whole life.

She is survived by daughters, Ann Donahue (Jimmie); Nancy Nichols (Charlie); sons, Steve Humphries (Kathy), Danny Humphries (Debbie) and Teddy Humphries (Ann); ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one brother, Charlence F. Shipley, Jr. (Beulah), two sisters, Dorothy Easterday and Edna Mae Brenneman. She is also survived by many life long and special friends, neighbors and fellow Christians.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Waterville Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Wednesday at the church from 12 Noon until the time of service at the church.
