Edith Johnson

Edith Johnson, age 97, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Saturday morning, December 6, 2008, in a local healthcare facility. She was a member of the South Cleveland Church of God. She loved music and served as choir director at her former church in her hometown of Greer, South Carolina. She was best described by her loving family as a caregiver always putting others ahead of herself. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Johnson and five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Martha E. and Deryle Holloway and one son and daughter in law, Jerry B. and Gayla Johnson all of Cleveland. Three grandchildren and spouses, Phil and Dana Holloway, Dalton, GA, Rick Holloway and Emily and Jason Streun, all of Cleveland, TN; three precious great grandchildren, Brandon and Paige Holloway, Dalton, GA and Caleb Streun, Cleveland, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moody, Pastor Mitch Maloney and Dr. Carl Hobbs officiating.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Vernon Holloway, Terry Gallaher, Terry Smith, Dennis Carson, Duane Lambert and Gary Kimsey serving as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the South Cleveland Church of God building fund.
