Christine Ruth Prince Jones

Christine Ruth Prince Jones, passed away July 1, 2009, at the age of 88 in a healthcare center in Asheville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edmond Jones, four brothers and one sister. Christine grew up in Cleveland, Tennessee having been adopted by her aunt after her mother and twin sister died during birth. Thanks to her commitment to education and the help of her family, she graduated with a bachelors degree in English from the University of Chattanooga at age 20. She taught elementary students before joining the Coast Guard SPARS and serving as a Pharmacist Mate during World War II in Chicago and Atlantic City.

She is survived by her children, Robert Duddleston and Ruth Robards and three grandchildren.

Her ashes were commingled with her husbands and interred at the Memorial Garden near St. Giles, according to her wishes. The family held a commemoration of her life in California. Memorial donations may be sent to the Deerfield Health Care Chapel Fund 1617 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28803.
