Dr Mike Jones

Dr. Mike Jones, 49, a resident of Cleveland Tennessee, passed away Monday morning, November 30, 2009, following a brief battle with cancer in a Chattanooga hospital.

Dr. Jones, a native of Madisonville, Tennessee, was born on April 12, 1960. Dr. Jones was a graduate of Madisonville High School in 1978. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1982 where he graduated with High Honors. He was a Tennessee Volunteer through and through.

Dr. Jones began his practice of general dentistry in Cleveland, Tennessee following his graduation from The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry at Memphis in 1986. He joined the practice of Dr. Eben DeArmond and they developed a professional partnership and friendship that spanned 23 years.

Dr. Jones professional affiliations included The American Dental Association, The Tennessee Dental Association, The Chattanooga Area Dental Association, The Tennessee Valley Study Club, The Cleveland Dental Society, and The American Academy of Operative Dentistry. He held leadership positions in several of these organizations and distinguished himself by his service.

Dr. Jones was highly regarded by his local and national colleagues for his clinical skills and the personal care that he provided for his patients. All who knew him enjoyed his warm smile and clever wit.

Dr. Jones was the son of Mrs. Johnnie Howard Jones and the late Ernest Kyle Jones of Madisonville, Tennessee. He has an older brother Greg Jones, also of Madisonville.

His wife of 23 years, Shandra Brunner Jones of Cleveland and his two teenaged children, Lindsey and Justin, survive Dr. Jones. Dr. Jones was well known for his love of the outdoors and in particular hunting and fishing.

Dr. Jones will be most remembered as a loving husband and father. His thoughts were always on his family and how they could best spend time together. He and Shandra were regular faces at their childrens church, school, and sporting events.

Dr. Jones had a strong Christian spirit and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

The funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 3, 2009 with Reverend Jim Gibson officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM followed by a service at 5:00 PM. A family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on the following day. Mr. Joe Burns III, Mr. Harry Cantrell, Dr. John Fox, Dr. Bill Harvey, Mr. Carlos Fragomini, Mr. Sam Howard, Mr. Randy Ensley, and Dr. Eben DeArmond, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. The Cleveland Dental Society is named as honorary pallbearers.

The family request that memorials be made to The First Baptist Church Building Fund.
