Eula Blackmon Jones, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010, in a local hospital. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fealty Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William Jackson and Lillie Etta Melton McCarter; husbands: William Denver Blackmon, Jr., and John Llewellyn Jones; brothers: Robert Y. McCarter, Haskell McCarter, Harley McCarter and retired Col. E.H. McCarter; sister, Etta Randall; grandson, Christopher Alford and great-grandson, Ryan Fuller.
She is survived by one son, William "Bo" Blackmon and wife Donna of Rome, GA; two daughters: Nancy Blackmon Alford and husband Louie of Cleveland, and Mary Blackmon of Knoxville; one brother, Deva McCarter of Florence, SC; grandchildren: Dr. Michael Blackmon of Rome, GA, Scott Blackmon of Charleston, SC, Matthew Culbertson of Cleveland, Meghan Boles of Cleveland, David Alford of Frisco, TX, Michael Alford of Southlake, TX, and Erin Alford Fuller of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Reid Blackmon, Abby Blackmon, Alex McCord, Eric Alford, Patrick Alford and Allison Alford, Audrey Alford, Ashley Alford, Anne Leigh Alford, Rhiannon Fuller and Knox Fuller; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Reed Shell and Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens concluding with a white dove release ceremony. Dr. Michael Blackmon, Scott Blackmon, Matthew Culberson, David Alford, Michael Alford and Roger Fuller will serve as pallbearers. The Fealty Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
